Mother’s Day Celebration Held with Joyful Festivity

AVENEL - The atmosphere was filled with joy and celebration as The First Presbyterian Church of Avenel held a heartwarming Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 12. Organized by the church’s Youth Ministry, the event took place at the church chapel and was marked with enthusiasm, creativity, and deep appreciation for mothers.

The celebration began as mothers entered the chapel like celebrities walking down a red carpet. With hands waving and smiles beaming, they were cheered on by the congregation in a moving tribute to their pivotal role in the family and community.

The highlight of the event was a theatrical skit performed by the Youth group. The skit told the story of a mother named Mintje (portrayed by Nicole Tambuwun) who returned home exhausted, only to find little support or appreciation from her family. Her husband (played by Gianino Katuuk) chose to hang out with his friend Alo (played by Chris Toreh) instead of helping, while her children (played by Flavius Lumintang, Sandro Katuuk, and Albert Katuuk) remained indifferent. Mintje’s friends (played by Jesica Watung and Tamara Lumangkun) attempted to engage her in gossip, but she was clearly not in the mood.

The skit concluded with a touching reflection on the immense and often overlooked contributions of mothers within the household. The message resonated strongly with the audience.

Following the skit, Kinasya Mapaliey delivered an emotionally stirring poem that moved the entire congregation. Her heartfelt performance received overwhelming applause and admiration.

The celebration continued with video greetings from the Youth and Sunday School Ministry, expressing love and gratitude toward mothers.

As the event progressed, all the mothers were invited to the front of the chapel, where they received flowers and special gifts. They then made their way to a photo booth to capture joyful moments with their families.

The celebration concluded with a group photo and a warm fellowship gathering at the Rumah Misi, closing the day with shared laughter, gratitude, and community spirit.
